A major fire on November 5th, 1849 reduced the entire village to rubble and ashes. When considering rebuilding the village as a cheaper street village, the farmers did not agree. In the end, everyone went back to building on their old courtyard. This is how the Rundling could emerge in its present form and the beautiful half-timbered houses from 1850.

In the Rundling, where the milk bank used to be, a peace oak was planted on October 18, 1913. It commemorates the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig (1813).
