The Santuario Santa Maria de Tindari is the famous pilgrimage church with the Black Madonna. The church was built in the 1950s and here the Black Madonna is worshiped by Tindari.
Tradition has it that after a sudden burst of images, the picture of grace from Constantinople was washed ashore in a box. The black Madonna can be seen in the back smaller church.
