Founded in 1143 by Cistercians, Nydala Monastery is one of Sweden's oldest monasteries and existed until the Reformation. Today only the monastery church, part of the walls and some ruins are preserved.

Definitely worth a visit. Note the four information boards in the spacious parking lot, which tell a lot about the history of the former monastery. The illustration depicting what the monastery looked like back then is particularly interesting. Today, "only" the church building and two outbuildings remain.
