The construction of the Saupark Wall was started under King Wilhelm IV. On April 17, 1836, the foundation stone was laid for the 16.3 km long, 2.0 m high and 0.6 m thick wall, which was completed in 1939.
The wall thus enclosed the 14 square kilometer Saupark, the court hunting ground of the kings of Hanover and later the German emperors.translated by
