Neuville is located 15 kilometers north of Lyon in the Val de Saône, on the left bank of the Saône which determines its western border. Bordered to the east by a sloping relief, a valley provides access to the coastal Dombes (301 meters above sea level). Coming from the north, Neuville forms a bottleneck between the embankment of the Dombes plateau and the Monts d'Or, thus closing the alluvial plain through which the Saône flows. It is quite naturally at this place that a bridge makes it possible to cross the river.
