Wien river portal (3rd, on Johannesgasse). In the course of the regulation of the river Vienna (1895-1903), in 1903-1906, on behalf of the municipality of Vienna, an artistically designed hemicycle system with staircases to the banks of the Vienna (including an architecturally and sculpturally decorated garden wall) based on designs by Friedrich Ohmann and Karl Hackhofer (construction contract January 21, 1903, opening November 15, 1906).

The Art Nouveau complex is flanked by two domed pavilions; the figural and decorative sculptures on the quay walls of the Wien come from Franz Klug. One of Ohmann's original projects, to install larger-than-life grotesque dinosaurs and elephants above the vaulted gate, which were supposed to hurl water into the Wien River in mighty jets, was not carried out.

A comprehensive general renovation took place from 2001 to 2004 (costs: around 4.62 million euros).

Right next to the "Stadtpark" underground station, the Wien river disappears underground surrounded by this striking gate. Popular photo motif.

The Vienna or the Vienna River is a river that rises in the western Vienna Woods near Rekawinkel and flows into the Danube Canal near the Urania in the 1st and 3rd districts of Vienna. It is 34 kilometers long and has a catchment area of 221 square kilometers. Although the river also flows through urban areas, it has an alpine character and is considered to be white water.
