In one section you walk or cycle along the railway tracks, which is nicely protected, which does not detract from the nature lover 😉...

Very nice hiking trail along the embankment through the Eidertal to Flintbek. Easily accessible by bike, but a few short, steep sections just before Flintbek.

With a length of 188 km, the Eider is the longest river in Schlewig-Holstein. It begins as a small rivulet until it flows into the North Sea with its Purrenstrom at a width of at times two kilometers.On its way, the longest river in Schleswig-Holstein has written a lot of history, has been changed and absorbed again and again. Today the Eider is interrupted or united in one piece by and with the Kiel Canal.In Rendsburg it returns to its own riverbed and is only navigable from there. The most original part, however, is its headwaters and its initial course.The Eider has its source south of Kiel. Strictly speaking, it has two sources: the Heickenteich and a small lake at Gut Schönhagen.It starts out as a small, inconspicuous brook and in Bisse in Bordesholmer Land a sign on its delicate brook bed would not point to the Eider, one would think that its river bed was a drainage ditch...
