The Sachsenring is actually a motorsport race track. Nevertheless, there is also a remarkable piece of cycling history here. Because on the ring in 1969, the only UCI Road World Championships on the floor of the former GDR instead. With it also the two-time Peace Race stage winner and GDR driver Gustav-Adolf Schur, who finished second in the amateurs.
