The Montenero dewatering pump is one of those artifacts that were built starting from
late nineteenth century for the raising of shallow waters, in order to reclaim the marshy areas
near the river mouths (Trigno River).
These areas were used for agriculture but were subsequently abandoned and these artifacts
they were no longer used except as illegal landfills.
Currently it has been subject to only external repainting while the caretaker's building is still in
state of decay and abandonment shelter for homeless people and animals.
