Johannes Nepomuk or Johannes von Pomuk was a Bohemian priest and martyr. He was in 1729 by Pope Benedict XIII. canonized.
The sculpture stood in the basement of St.Anna Church for years because the head was missing. Szemerey-Kiss Balázs carried out the restoration and so in 2013 the newly reconstructed "Kurca" bridge was proclaimed a bridge saint.
