The former gate chapel of the Hude monastery, an early Gothic hall church made of cloister format stones, has served as a Protestant parish church since around 1548. She has a straight degree in choir. The nave, whose longitudinal walls are supported by buttresses, is covered with a gable roof, from which a roof tower rises to the west, in which hangs a church bell cast by Goteke Klinghe in 1488. On the long sides of the nave there are two-lane lancet windows, namely tracery windows with a circle at the top. On the east wall of the choir there is a window of 3 lancet arches with 3 circles. The 3 bays of the interior are covered with a four-part ribbed vault with busted caps. The services of the walls only carry the shield arches, the vault ribs and belts sit on the consoles. In the interior there are wall paintings from the time of origin. Christ in the mandorla, the enthroned Maria with child and a holy king are depicted in the choir vault, on the front wall St. Catherine and Elisabeth. In the 2nd yoke is Jonas and the whale, in the 3rd yoke St. Martin, the Fall of Man and the Brazen Serpent. 24 small reliefs of a Gothic altar with scenes from the New Testament from the Annunciation to Pentecost in the new frame date from the first half of the 14th century. A triumphal cross is from the beginning of the 16th century. The pulpit is dated 1672. The 4 evangelists stand between columns on the pulpit basket.

Beautiful surroundings at the old monastery in Hude. Here you can also take a break for coffee/cake.
