The trail completes the first section of the ascent on the Canal pass, between the Castro Valnera and Cubada Grande masses. The pass is a window of the Cantabrian peaks that mark the geographical border between the valleys of Burgos and Cantabria in the surroundings of the Estacas de Trueba pass. When the snow does not cover the stakes of the path, it is easy to follow the path. The path crosses the mountain pass to the west, close to the cliffs on the right, until a narrow and steep channel appears that allows the climb to the summit. The change of direction is complete, you have to ascend in an easterly direction until the enormous mountainside appears in front of you above the glacial valleys where the El Bernacho cabins from Pas are housed.
