The Brodten steep bank hiking trail is unfortunately less and less, it is clearly crumbling, many trees are falling down.

The original cliff path - single trail - slightly hidden, all the less people and great views ....

There is hardly a more beautiful view of the Bay of Lübeck: On the Brodtener Steilufer, a hiking trail leads high above the Baltic Sea from Niendorf to Travemünde.

On the densely populated Bay of Lübeck, there is a stretch of coast that is still almost undeveloped: the Brodtener Steilufer. The land there, in the Brodtener Winkel between Travemünde and Niendorf, juts out into the Baltic Sea like a cape. Rare sand martins build their nesting holes on the cliff, which is up to 20 meters high. Large parts of the shore belong to the European bird sanctuary and are protected. The Brodtener Steilufer is a worthwhile destination for a walk along the coast. A comfortable footpath and cycle path runs above the natural beach. About halfway between Niendorf and Hermannshöhe, a staircase leads down to the natural beach. If you start in Niendorf, you first walk along extensive fields. There are always wide views over the bay to the coastline in the north with seaside resorts such as Sierksdorf and Grömitz. After about two kilometers, the vegetation becomes more natural, trees grow on both sides of the path. Some of the earth has fallen onto the beach. Halfway along the path, you reach the highest point on the shore, the Hermannshöhe restaurant. The path changes direction past a golf course and the view now falls on the Mecklenburg coast at Klützer Winkel. After a total of around six kilometers, the hiking trail ends at a boat mooring in Travemünde.
