The Abbey of Wąchock is a place of prayer and work for the Cistercians. It is also undoubtedly a great monument of culture, history and a monument of European class.
The monastery in Wąchock was built at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Romanesque architecture in Poland. The founder of the abbey in 1179 was the bishop of Kraków, Gedeon (Gedko). The builder of the abbey was Simon, of Italian descent.
