It covers 1552 hectares. The forest massif occupies a series of hills separated by small, gently sloping plateaus. The maximum altitude recorded is 340 meters at the Butte du Mesnil. Very popular because of the variety of landscapes, this forest is embellished with several bodies of water. The soils are acidic and sometimes waterlogged and form peat bogs called swales.
