The small fountain and the laundry house once flourished in a "baroque park design" as an outpost of the Nenndorf bathing establishment.
The complex consisted of avenues that led from the octagonal fountain square in three directions at right angles. The fountain was first mentioned as a mineral spring in 1546.
A contemporary map shows the place where the water was pumped as a health fountain. The bathing water flowed into the meadow.
When the water increasingly lost its mineral properties after 250 years, barrels of brine were initially rolled from Soldorf to Rodenberg to keep the bathing establishment running. In 1842, it then moved completely to the neighboring state spa.
The company moved its laundry to Rodenberg, probably for capacity reasons, according to Zimmermann. Originally, the idea was, as shown by a building plan from 1889, to build the house in the classicist style of the Nenndorf buildings. But this did not happen, for inexplicable reasons. Two years later, a second design was created after the current laundry house was built in 1894/95.

The small fountain was first mentioned in 1546 as a mineral spring and was part of a baroque park. In 1662, Hedwig Sophie von Brandenburg, guardian of Landgrave Wilhelm VII of Hesse-Kassel, established a bathing establishment.

The spring on the road to Bad Nenndorf is surprising. But I don't want to try the water. When we visited there was plenty of "duckweed" on the surface 🤢
