A myriameter is an older measurement and means 10,000 meters or 10 kilometers.
The straightening of the Upper Rhine between 1817 and 1879 required a new survey of the Rhine. In 1864, the middle bridge in Basel was set as the starting point and the mouth of the Rhine near Rotterdam as the end point. The altitudes refer to the zero point in Amsterdam.
The 🪨 myriameter stones were set up as kilometer marking. A uniform labeling of the stones was also specified.
