There is currently an official warning against entering this section because parts of the cliffs have collapsed. South of the river crossing, fallen trees also force hike-a-bike tours on the beach path. However, there is now a bypass at the edge of the field. So with a light bike/luggage and a bit of a sense of adventure, it's no problem.
