St. Katharina is a listed parish church. This neo-Romanesque hall church, which consists mainly of ashlar masonry, was built between 1855 and 1856.

The first church, dedicated to St. Catherine, was built into the rock as a castle chapel below the castle, in what is now the "Old Cemetery." Due to the high humidity and cold, the church fell into disrepair after a long time. After long negotiations with the state regarding the obligation to build, the foundation stone for a new church was finally laid in 1855 on the current site on the way to Hohenschwärz.
