The Schwieringhauser Bridge is a notable railway bridge in the Schwieringhausen district of Dortmund. It is part of the historic infrastructure of the Ruhr region and originally served as a link between the coal mines and the processing plants and ports along the Dortmund-Ems Canal. The bridge is an example of early 20th century industrial architecture, with its robust steel structure designed to carry heavy goods traffic. The Schwieringhauser Bridge is still in use today, although no longer in its original function. It remains a significant testament to the region's industrial past and is part of the industrial heritage of the Ruhr region. The Schwieringhauser Bridge is located in an area that is heavily industrial, but is also attractive to recreationalists due to its proximity to the canal and the surrounding green spaces. The bridge itself is an impressive structure, creating a striking silhouette against the sky both in daylight and at dusk.
