The Collegiate Church of San Martín de Elines, located in Valderredible (San Martín de Elines), is one of the most interesting Romanesque monuments in the region and is one of the four collegiate churches built in the Romanesque style in Cantabria, along with Santillana, Castañeda, and Fawns.
This collegiate church initially belonged to a Mozarabic monastery from the 10th century (some remains remain in the cloister), then it became a collegiate church and later a parish church. It is a building of great quality, beauty and complexity, with a single nave and quite high. It has a semicircular apse, a quadrangular lantern and a circular bell tower. In the inner part of the apse the only Romanesque paintings in Cantabria are preserved.
It is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest, it was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument belonging to the National Artistic Treasure by decree of June 3, 1931.
