The Hengsteysee is one of six Ruhr reservoirs, it lies between Dortmund, Herdecke and Hagen. The Ruhr Valley Cycle Path runs along its shore, which is relatively narrow on this section because it leads partly over bridges and bridges. Nice to look at, but in good weather it can sometimes lead to "stop and go" maneuvers.

Take it easy, at least when you circle the lake from west to east. Because then you are spat out directly at the foot of the Syburg serpentines - at the latest here you will be warm again;)

During the week it is not so crowded, and you can drive relatively carefree. In general, a bell on the bike is also recommended for racing bikes when you are on the Ruhrtal cycle path.
The view of the lake is particularly nice when you drive in good weather in the late afternoon or evening towards the sun.
