The Arethousa Spring (Arethousa Krini) on Ithaca is an ancient freshwater spring below the Marathias plateau. According to Homer, it is the place where the faithful swineherd Eumaeus watered his animals and met Odysseus. The spring is accessible via a hiking trail and offers views as far as Kefalonia.
A narrow, often steep path leads from the Marathias plateau or from Perachori to the spring, which is surrounded by pine forests.
The spring is named after the nymph Arethousa, whose story is closely linked to the area.
