he airfield Werl was a military airfield, which was inaugurated in 1936 by the Wehrmacht Air Force. The airfield north of Werl next to the prison was used by NATO forces after the end of the Second World War and finally abandoned in 1994. After the demolition of the facilities, the KonWerl business park is located on the site today.
