Bacalhoa Buddha Eden: Europe's largest oriental garden.
After Buddhism was supplanted, the Buddhist statues in Bamiyan (Afghanistan) repeatedly fell victim to vandalism, which culminated in a major action by the Taliban in 2001.
That was reason enough for Portuguese businessman Joe Berardo to create a garden full of Buddha statues and Asian pagodas and sculptures as a tribute. More than 6000 tons of granite and marble were processed for this.
