The biotopes form a special habitat for dragonflies, a total of 25 species have already been identified. Three species that are already on the red list in NRW and four species on the early warning list can be observed here. Here you can find the rare Lesser Mosaic Damsel, the Shiny Rush Damsel, the Lesser Pitch Damselfly, the Black Darter and the flat-bellied.

The wet meadows provide a habitat for typical hygrophilous grasshopper species. 15 grasshopper species have already been identified. In addition, three species were detected that are even on the red list for NRW, as well as one species that is on the early warning list. These include the swamp grasshopper, the swamp grasshopper, and the misjudged grasshopper.

Numerous butterflies can also be found in the NSG. So far, 20 different butterfly species have been detected, including the endangered species Golden Eight and Little Fritillary Butterfly. The lesser grasshopper can be found here as a type of early warning list.

Numerous endangered bird species have their home in the "Versmolder Bruch". Ten pairs of curlews breed here regularly, and lapwings and stonechats also use the NSG to breed and rear their young.
Rare species such as the skylark, the tree pipit, the marsh harrier, the partridge and the endangered tree falcon can be seen here.
Gadwall, widgeon and teal, gray goose and Canada goose, but also white-fronted geese and bean geese have been spotted on the goat stream and the area's Blänken.
Visitors can also see egrets, cranes and even black storks.
