The mole light used to be on the site of today's harbor barrier and was then erected in 2003 on a concrete base in its current location.
Today, the pier light serves as an information stand and meeting place for the Museumshafen Büsum e. V

The pier light originally stood on the western pier head of the old lock, which was built in 1938. The old lock with its two pier heads had to make way for the current barrier in 1986, and with it the pier light.

Hiking

Since 1929 there were two red towers with a gray lantern on the pier heads, the western pier light being 9 m high and the eastern one 7 m high. The old pier light on the east pier was rammed by a ship in 1982. Both mole lights had to give way to the new barrage in 1986. The lantern of the western pier light was set up again in the Büsum Museum Harbor in July 2003.
