The monastery on the Orbieso was built around 1230 as a modest hermitage, enlarged by the Benedictines and passed to the Camaldolese. In 1458 it depended on the monastery of San Michele in Murano, but was suppressed, like many others, in 1770 with the reforms of the Serenissima which aimed to group the monks into large monastic complexes.
