The Mauensee is located on the edge of the Wauwilermoose, near Lake Sempach. The lake is fed by several small streams, drained over the Ron. On an island lies the beautiful castle Mauensee, which can be reached via a bridge. Swimming and fishing is unfortunately prohibited in Lake Mauensee.

Hiking

Mauensee is always worth a visit. It is a cozy short circular walk around Lake Mauensee. Good waterproof shoes are recommended because the soil is sometimes quite moist. Parking is outside of school hours at the school Mauensee. By public transport, Mauensee can be easily reached with the line 63 from the train station Sursee. The castle itself can not be visited as it is privately owned.
