Created in 1974, the TUTIAC cooperative has continued to grow, through mergers and the pursuit of ever more ambitious projects and today manages to support more than 1000 families through its activity, including more than 500 wine producers distributed throughout the Bordeaux vineyards.
For many years, the Vignerons de Tutiac have been working to develop a viticulture that is ever more respectful of the environment while optimizing the economic performance of the farms.
This initiative was selected within the framework of the CASDAR Project (initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment) and resulted in the planting of an experimental vineyard which makes it possible to carry out trials in the preservation of biodiversity and natural resources, and the reduction of inputs.
As soon as the new practices prove interesting from an environmental and economic point of view, they are put in place among the members, such as inter-row sowing and the planting of hedges around the plots, sexual confusion to fight against the proliferation of leafrollers and vines or the introduction of organic farming for some of the winegrowers.
The Vignerons de Tutiac cooperative brings together more than 40 different professions, which bring together all the skills to excel in all stages of winemaking, from the vine to the glass.
