A large part of Texel's nature is located in the Duinen van Texel National Park. There are twenty national parks in the Netherlands; seventeen of these were set up by the state. And every single one is a piece of landscape with unique nature that is particularly worthy of protection.

Texel National Park stretches across the entire dune area and forest of the island, from the extreme southern tip of De Hors to the dune area by the lighthouse, in the far north. The total area is about 43 square kilometers. The Duinen van Texel National Park offers impressively varied landscapes.
