          The dodecagonal Diana temple in the middle of the Hofgarten was built in 1616. The main entrance to the Hofgarten is today on the west side opposite the Theatiner Church. This courtyard garden gate was built in 1816 by Leo von Klenze as the first structure. From the Diana Temple, 8 Ways of the Cross go through the courtyard garden. Inside the temple there are 4 shell fountains on the walls. These are mentioned by Andre' Gides in Fruits of the Earth. The roof of the temple is decorated with a copy of the Tellus-Bavaria bronze statue by Hubert Gerhard from 1623. The bronze is supposed to represent Diana and symbolizes the riches of the state of Bavaria. The Temple of Diana was also used for filming The Three Musketeers in 2011.
