Varathro (Pothole) Cave is one of the 15 caves of Almopias, the first and only speleological park in Greece.
This maze-like cave has three entrances (only two of them easily accessible, the third is 20 m above) and its depth is 52 meters. It is the only cave that used to be open to public between 2002 - 2016. To explore the cave, bring a torch and tread carefully on the wooden boards, they are not in good condition. Especially in the last chamber, the deepest one, do not step on the wooden floor at all.
