    The Yowie is an ape-like creature with massive feet, a fur-covered body, large flat nose, and looms over 6-feet tall. The

    Kámilarói people of the Gunnedah region (an area that once encompassed southern Queensland and northern New South Wales) believed that Yowies were the old race of people who occupied the land in the Dream Time. Their name for the anicent creature -- Yō-wī” -- means a nocturnal spirit forever wandering the earth.
