There was probably a hunting lodge here for the Duke of Brabant in 1233. Zoerselhof was built as the abbot's court of the Cistercians. The current building with quarters for the abbot and provisor was erected in 1787 by provisor Bonifacius De Wolf (provisor or steward, the representative of the Hemiksem abbey, who managed the abbey estates in the name of the abbot). It seems that the castle was built on older foundations. Attacked during the French Revolution, so that the domain came into the hands of J.P. Schmitz, who sold it to D'Arquet and Tréau in 1803.
