This house is not necessarily the most impressive in the village, but it housed the character who is most closely linked to it. Indeed Django Reinhardt spent the last years of his life, died and is buried in Samois.
The Django Reinhardt festival dedicated to jazz was created in 1983 to pay tribute to him and took place there every year until 2015, on the island of Berceau. But in 2016, an exceptional flood and the limits of the place forced the festival to be moved to Fontainebleau. However, certain events continue to take place in Samois.
There is also a statue of Django at the entrance to the island.
