An ancient agricultural and pastoral village, Portesone is characterized by stone houses with a particular structure. The lower floors were used as stables, while the homes were on the first floor, reachable by mobile wooden stairs.
These tower houses were necessary due to frequent pirate raids.
In 2021 the medieval village was completely cleaned up.
