One of the bridges of the Ipposidra, an animal-drawn railway built for the land transport of boats used on the Naviglio Grande between Tornavento and Sesto Calende along the Ticino, which operated from 1858 to 1865.

Hiking

The bridge is one of the remains of the majestic Ipposidra engineering work. This, also known as the via ferrata of boats, was built in the second half of the 19th century and had the purpose of transporting boats from Tornavento to Sesto Calende by land. In this way it was possible to avoid navigation on the Ticino which in certain points would have been dangerous due to the strong currents.
