A man made set of Roman Ruins, built from real Roman stones controversially brought from Leptis Magna (a ruined Roman town) near Tripoli in Libya in 1816.

A beguiling sight, the Ruins were constructed from columns, pedestals and slabs recovered from the vibrant Roman city of Leptis Magna, which was in what is today Libya. The stones that make up the Ruins were gifted to George IV in 1816 and put in place ten years later. Today, they're protected by a fence, having been lovingly restored in 2009.

The source of many of the stones that were used to create The Ruins at Virginia Water is Leptis Magna, a Roman City site on the shores of the Mediterranean near Tripoli, in present day Libya.
