Cycling

In the 11th century, the Bishop of Paderborn owned property in Hohenwepel. In 1018, Bishop Meinwerk donated land to Count Dodiko (Warburg). In 1183, Pope Lucius III confirmed the tithes from Hohenwepel to the Abdinghof monastery. It is assumed that the parish was established around 1300. In 1418, Hohenwepel is listed as the mother church of St. Barbara Engar. In 1830, the church and rectory burned down, along with almost the entire town. The church, rebuilt in 1839, was remodeled in 1902.
