THE SAY ABOUT THE 3 CROSSES

Erlaheim belonged to the Johanniter parish of Isingen-Rosenfeld.

In 1388 the village and the Johanniter contracted that the Rosenfeld people's priest should read mass and carry out other official duties in Erlaheim every second Sunday and at Christmas.

When the Isingen-Rosenfeld parish became evangelical, the Erlaheimers, according to a somewhat legendary report, initially found no connection to a Catholic community anywhere and therefore decided to also convert to the Reformation.

They are said to have already been about to go to the Isinger church in the festive procession when the people of Binsdorf noticed this and marched towards them with crosses and flags to lead them into the Binsdorfer church.

At the point where the two trains met, the three crosses that are still standing were erected.

What is certain is that the pastor of Binsdorf read mass every 14 days in Erlaheim in 1582 and also otherwise looked after the town spiritually.
