The mill of Fakkert is an octagonal gallery mill, which served since its construction in 1862 as a grain mill. In 1930, the wooden parapet was destroyed by a storm. Although this leaves only little of the original mill, the complex of mill and miller's dwelling is unique to the Netherlands. So there is a good reason why it has been on the list of national monuments since 2003. After the restoration, the wooden, octagonal structure was placed on the ground and now serves as a pavilion. In Hoonhorst on the village square, in front of the Roman Catholic Church, is the work of art "Volte", popularly known as "the dancing horse". The three-meter-high bronze statue stands on a concrete pedestal and was designed by the artist Jos Dirix.
