Stonyhurst is known for its historic and architecturally significant buildings. The main building, Stonyhurst Hall, dates back to the 16th century and is an impressive structure with a rich history.

Stonyhust Hall began construction in around 1200 but there have been several expansions and improvements since then. It's grade 1 listed.
It's been a school since 1794 when a wealthy benefactor gave enough to allow the school to move back to Britain and purchase this estate.
The school is a co-educational Roman Catholic independent school which provides boarding for around 450 students.
