Municipality in the Baix Empordà region of Girona, famous for its integrated medieval nucleus, made up of the Romanesque church of Sant Pere de Ullastret (11th century), a perfectly preserved wall, a Gothic market, and other civil buildings.

It is located on the right bank of the Daró, which crosses the town in a north-south direction in its western sector. On a gentle elevation, it was built with a clearly medieval structure. Very well-preserved walls encircle a small nucleus of narrow, steep streets that lead to an esplanade where it is believed that there was the sovereign enclosure of a castle that has now disappeared.
