Hiking
The color concept of this building was developed together with Swiss artist Adrian Schiess. The combination of colors and the oblique shape gives this building the illusion of an emerald. The harder the sun shines, the brighter the colors. The light in the apartments in De Smaragd is optimized by the shape.

Hiking
The Emerald is the only building in Almere's city center with a truly striking color scheme.
The slightly sloping facades provide varying levels of natural light depending on the direction of the building. The upper floors house spacious apartments, encircled by horizontally arranged bands of glass reminiscent of the polished surfaces of a gemstone.
