The Dragon Bridge, inaugurated in 2007 over the Guadaíra River, is the only figurative bridge in Europe: its structure, covered in multicolored "trencadís" in homage to Gaudí, recreates the figure of a dragon that "watches over" the Arab castle of Alcalá de Guadaíra. Legend has it that this dragon has protected the city since Almohad times and even helps bakers keep the fire in their ovens. A good place to view it calmly is the riverbank, among the old water mills.
