Not far away, an important crossroads made various destinations available, be it to Ilmenau, over the Lohme towards Gehren, the "Ochsenbacher" towards Rennsteig or over the Hochzeitswiese towards Frauenwald.
This settlement here - Sachsendorf - was located here on the Lohme-Aue, the source area of the Lohme, which is still active and recognizable today. There were 13 houses on an area of approx. 3.2 hectares.
