Waidmannslust goes back to a villa colony that was founded on land acquired in 1875 by the forester and innkeeper Ernst Bondick. The area got its name from the Waidmannslust inn run by Bondick. In 1920, Waidmannslust was incorporated into Greater Berlin as part of the rural community of Lübars from the Niederbarnim district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg and has since been part of the Berlin district of Reinickendorf.
