This long and narrow tunnel, which pedestrians share with a small stream, marks the old route of the main road through the village before the railroad came in 1877. A real train station was built in Wehrden, which even became a small junction between the Aachen - Holzminden and Altenbeken - Nordhausen routes. This tunnel was built in order to be able to pass the spacious train station on foot. It is advisable to turn on the light! 💡
