The Niers is approximately 114 kilometres long. And only 9 (nine!) kilometres of it are in the Netherlands. But they are beautiful kilometres with the wonderfully beautiful mouth in the Maas where the historically important Genneperhuis castle has been watching for centuries, albeit now in ruins.

Around the mouth is a piece of nature reserve where it is nice to walk and where you get a lot of information. And in Gennep itself you can also enjoy the Niers. Like at the bridge, which was renamed the Highlander Bridge in 2015 and under which a wonderful terrace begins that is partly set up for catering purposes.
